Students are introduced to the scientific inquiry process and each step of the Scientific Method is explained in detail. 2 differentiated reading passages are included.

Differentiated Reading Comprehension Worksheets

Three differentiated versions of student reading comprehension worksheets are included: 1) Open ended questions with In Your Own Words Make a Connection annotation boxes for grade level & higher reading level students 2) CLOZE Reading fill-in-the-blank worksheet for lower reading level students. 3) a modified reading comprehension worksheet that pairs with the modified reading passage for lower reading level students. These activites can be completed individually or as a whole group. The Digital Version includes additional Google Slide Digital Notebook versions of all 3 of these reading comprehension activities (Grade Level, CLOZE Version, Modified Version). Students have their own Digital Notebook version of the reading passage and enter their responses right into the digital worksheet.

Differentiated Assessments (editable)

Two differentiated versions including 13 multiple choice questions taken directly from the reading passage. I included both a word copy and a pdf copy so you have the ability to modify/add/delete any quiz question you like. The Digital Version includes an additional two self-grading Google Form Quizzes ( Grade Level Quiz & Modified Quiz).

Google Classroom is quickly becoming one of the most popular digital classroom platforms use in education today.

Google Classroom lacks flashy graphics and is relatively simple to use and that is the essence of it’s popularity. Because most students and teachers have prior experience using applications similar to those included in Google’s G Suite apps like Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, the transition to using Google Classroom is easy.

Below is a list of ideas for those of you that are new to Google Classroom as well as ideas for teachers more experienced with digital classrooms. We will be adding to this list over time!

  1. Create a digital Classroom Scavenger Hunt in Google Docs to teach your students classroom procedures and where to locate materials the first week of school.
  2. Post a question and have your students comment.
  3. Add resources such as procedures, glossary, course syllabus, etc. as Materials students can quickly access in a classroom digital folder..
  4. Schedule an assignment for a future date.
  5. Have your STEM students research, design & test, and build a Super Bridge over the Mississippi River using the NOVA Build a Bridge Program Interactive Simulation.
  6. Have students use Originality Reports to check written assignments for plagiarism.
  7. Create and assign a quiz with Google Forms. Some grade book software will even synchronize quiz grades automatically from google classroom.
  8. Create a slide deck in Google Slides and have a group use to present a project.
  9. Create a rubric to grade your student’s work and to give feedback.
  10. Use the Classroom Share button to share a website with your students.
  11. Have students check their grades.
  12. Use the Teacher Calendar to organize your assignments.
  13. Make an announcement to your students.
  14. View student work arranged by topic.
  15. Invite student Guardians to receive email grade summaries.
  16. Download the Google Classroom Mobile App and use Google Classroom on your mobile phone.

  64. Have your mono-lingual students use Google Translate to translate assignment instructions into their native language.
  65. Create an interactive lesson with Google Slides that allows students to learn at their own pace.
  66. Create a formative assessment with Google Forms to assess where students are in their learning.
  67. Use the immediate feedback from formative assessments to guide your instruction or identify which students need small group instruction.
  68. Go paperless in your classroom.
  69. Use Code with Google Program to teach core Computer Science concepts featuring activities, hands-on lessons, and lesson supplements and digital materials for educators.
  70. Create a Google Doc listing Teacher Approved Online Resources that students can access from a Google Drive Class Folder. Students can only use these online resources for class projects.
  71. Have students download Google Classroom App on their smartphone and have students share data or comment on discussion questions during a lesson outdoors.
  72. Assign a project to groups of students to collaborate on. Be sure to select “students can edit” when creating assignment.
